I've just been browsing Missed the Saturday Dance by [personal profile] zoetrope once more, courtesy of [personal profile] shiny_starlight, and being in awe of its wonderousness all over again. It always makes me tear up a little at the end.

It's being kept by the open doors project over at the OTW. What a fantastic organisation; I love how inclusively they try to run everything, and what a wonderful resource the AO3 is. I seem to be spending a lot of time in there at the moment, reading old favourites and coming across new gems.

I might put the 2-3 stories of my own that I don't completely hate on there some time.

Normally, I obviously don't have time to read Gen, what with all the John/Rodney and Rodney/Ronon slash out there (sadly too little of the latter). But sga_storyfinders found me this absolute gem, which I have to rec - http://sam-storyteller.dreamwidth.org/152547.html. What a great Ronon - with bonus Chuck.

A quick list of importance to me, dear flisters -

Sherlock - still haven't seen it. I think what's holding me back is that I want Sherlock to be played by RDJ in all incarnations henceforth. Controversial, but I just loved him in that role.

Thing the second - anyone still remotedly interested in SGA should read Unnatural Selection by auburn (http://archiveofourown.org/works/113891?view_full_work=true) which is a brilliant, horrific sci-fi story. So imaginative! Really quite scary! I shall say no more for fear of spoiling, but really, go and read.

Finally, I might be moving back home again this weekend, after our renovations. I am thrilled. My inlaws are lovely, but their house is full of things the sausage can stab himself with, and I only brought 3 pairs of socks with me.

Have been horrendously sick, and so has the sausage. I've been whiling away the days in a sick daze reading sga_santa...but then I re-remembered the Archive of Our Own and now I'm happily mired in Remus/Sirius, with a thousand million SGA and HP fics to look forward to. This is why I'm so unproductive. Well, that and the perpetual exhaustion of a parent whose offspring doesn't sleep well.

I'm up to date with Being Human, and if anyone wants to squee about how much they are enjoying it in comments, then I would love to squee along with you. It is so different from S1, but I'm loving it all the same. Is saying, "So dark, brrr," a spoiler?

We've given up on the field idea for getting handfasted - ironically, it works out more expensive than hiring an actual building. The village hall we've found is tiny though - cue lots of agonised wailing every time we think we have finished the guest list, then one of us will remember another cousin that absolutely must be invited. There's going to be about 3 people I actually want there at this rate.

Right, chips for dinner for me. DB is out at aikido, which means I get to kick back, forget I'm a nutritionist, and eat chips whilst mainlining fic :)

Best dream ever last night, wherein Joe Flanigan was in a Big Brother style reality TV show, with 5 or 6 other hot actor dudes, and the twist was they all had to share one enormous bed. If you cut me in half it would read slasher through the centre like a stick of rock. He is such a beautiful, beautiful man.

When I woke up this morning I also had something sensible in mind to post, but apparently my conscious self can only hold onto soft porn memories.

Oh yes - machinema - laboriously cut-together scenes from game play to form narratives - has caught my eye recently. I'm always fascinated by the creative ways people use media. This is my favourite - Grand Theft Auto set to Every Day is Like Sunday by Morrissey. Make sure you see the very end (not that it is a cheerful ending, but given the song you could guess that!).

The nice thing about all the S1 SGA fic that I've been reading is that it takes me right back to those heady, optimistic, gleeful days, when the fandom was fresh and shiny, and it was all about penguins, and first times and Ancient doohickeys.

In case you're wondering where is this rich seam of fic that I've been mining - it's here.

I find myself strangely dazzled that here one can buy the exact same boots that John Shepherd wears! Looking at them immediately makes me think of him. They are so bootishly John Shepherd :-D I think I love them. Magnum Storm II is the manliest name ever.

Life is good. Now that I have stopped stressing about getting a job (by simple expedient of not even trying to get one. Very restful) I have plenty of time to do my studying, and make nice meals and go to yoga. It's amazing how much time being stressed takes. Mind you, I am mid-cycle between handing in one essay and starting to lose it about the next, so may be I shouldn't speak too soon.

I loved Quarantine like it was made of kittens! Particularly the shots of John climbing, the vertigo effect was great. Well not particularly that bit Read more )

If you like Heartbeats by Jose Gonzales, then this will reignite your love for the Mcshep :) Possibly even make you go a bit smooshy.

Yeah, yeah, you never hear from me and then I show up with - clicky here! It's Joe and David chatting for a SGA TV advert. There is brief talk of manhandling and even fondling! How they pander to us fangirls :)
