A quick list of importance to me, dear flisters -

Sherlock - still haven't seen it. I think what's holding me back is that I want Sherlock to be played by RDJ in all incarnations henceforth. Controversial, but I just loved him in that role.

Thing the second - anyone still remotedly interested in SGA should read Unnatural Selection by auburn (http://archiveofourown.org/works/113891?view_full_work=true) which is a brilliant, horrific sci-fi story. So imaginative! Really quite scary! I shall say no more for fear of spoiling, but really, go and read.

Finally, I might be moving back home again this weekend, after our renovations. I am thrilled. My inlaws are lovely, but their house is full of things the sausage can stab himself with, and I only brought 3 pairs of socks with me.

Hello lovely flisters,

We're off to live with my inlaws today for a little while, as our flat is about to have some major renovations.

How are we paying for this, giving the utter brokeness of our household as mentioned in my previous post? Well, I've cashed in our endowment. Y'know, the special savings plan designed to pay off the mortgage.

This is the most reckless thing I've ever done. Well, the most reckless financial thing - I've done some pretty crazy things with my personal well-being in the past, but I digress.

Anyway, it seems like a good idea, because I don't enjoy living here - it is very tatty and very inconvenient - but we can't move for a couple of years. So the work we're having done is all designed for maximum improvement in quality of life (a decent shower!) and convenience (changing the kitchen around so I can get a highchair in there and still open the fridge!).

The kitties are going to stay at a kitty hotel for the first time ever. They know something is up, because of all the boxes full of stuff everywhere. I'm going to miss their little whiskery faces; especially first thing in the morning, when they like to stand on my bladder and breathe their fishy breath at me.

Hello everyone,

I am actually here, and snatching here and there reads when I can. But real life isn't permitting much else; I've been dealing with something serious and horrible, and I get handfasted on Saturday.

(I don't mean to be mysterious, but the serious thing isn't something I'm ready to talk about.)

*permits self small squee about the getting handfasted part*

See you all on the other side

Love, Pionie

Hello lovely friends

DB went out with friends last night and was feeling a trifle delicate this morning, made worse by the fact that he had a 4-hour teaching slot at his dojo starting at 9, followed by a 2 hour driving lesson.

As he was getting up, he got a text to say that the dojo had caught fire. Nothing serious, but they needed to cancel classes this weekend. Then a text from his driving instructor, to say there had been an accident near ours; again nothing serious, but causing a 40 minute delay.

The god of hangovers truly smiles on the unrighteous.

Thing the second - when I first heard that Lily Allen song, Not Fair, I thought the lyrics were quite amusing and the tune catchy. Now, months later, the thing has burrowed into my ear like a worm and I can't stop singing it. I'm going insane and DB is starting to pretend to get paranoid about why I persist in singing, "When we go up to bed, you're no good, it's such a shame...". I am considering singing a few verses of the catchiest song ever, to drive it out of my head.

(Out of respect for the sanity of you all, I'm not linking to that one, but it's a folk song about Misty, Moisty Mornings. I shall say no more).

I always say I grew up on Star Trek - didn't every one born pre-1975? So I was surprised to see that the last original air date was 1969, the year before I was born. I had no idea at the time that I was watching it on its 2nd time around.

I really, really wanted to marry Kirk. I'm surprised I didn't instruct my dad to get right on it for me, as I did after hearing Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. I told him that when Sgt Pepper came on tour, he was to take me to see them. He just said okay, sweetie, never pointed out the error of my ways :)

I've decided to start cross-posting between LJ and DW. Seems like I spend half my time on LJ; it's a little silly to jump ship just yet.

Been quiet lately, getting my head around working on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. But I've had some nice times too. Last night, I met [livejournal.com profile] mirabile_dictu who was over in London on holiday. You know how you can just tell how nice some people will be in real life from their journal? She was lovely. So many fun, fannish and interesting chats. And it was a real plus to meet one of my favourite writers.

Also just got back from the Waterhouse exhibit at the Royal Academy of Arts. Three rooms, crammed with jewel-like gorgeousness, and melancholy beauties whose clothes were all in the process of slipping off.
